The 29th edition of the Teatro a Mil International Festival is bringing the creations of playwrights and artists from 17 countries to Chile between January 3 and 23. Under the hashtag #ImagineCreateFutures, the festival’s themes include augmented reality, climate change, urban culture, circus art, lyric and the classics.

Argentina, Belgium, Bolivia, Brazil, France, Germany, Italy, Mexico, the Netherlands, Peru, Senegal, Spain, Sweden, the United Kingdom, the United States and Uruguay will present their work for free in the streets of Santiago, Antofagasta, Concepción, Cañete and Mejillones. They will also take place in theaters and online at teatroamil.tv, which will allow exclusive content to be accessed from anywhere in the world.

Beyond Van Gogh Chile: The Immersive Experience

With more than 100 people involved in its assembly, 10 tons of equipment and over 1,110 square meters of fabric to be projected onto, Beyond Van Gogh: The Immersive Experience hopes to become one of this summer’s favorite events, with some 150,000 visitors expected to come to see the show at the Movistar Arena.

The experience will present 300 iconic pieces of art by the Dutch painter Vincent Van Gogh in a stunning four-trillion-pixel audiovisual design. The first of its type to take place in Latin America, it fuses together culture and entertainment using cutting-edge technology created by world-renowned audiovisual designers, inviting the public to immerse themselves in a magical journey into the artist’s creative world.

Primavera Sound Chile:

In late 2021, it was announced that this renowned music festival will come to Chile, making it the first time that it will take place in Latin America. Rock, pop, indie and electronic music will take over the Chilean capital between November 7 and 13, with its main stages in the Cerrillos Bicentennial Park and other locations throughout the city. Santiago will then join Barcelona, Los Angeles and Porto as a new destination for one of today’s biggest musical events.

Lollapalooza:

This festival came to Chile for the first time in 2011. One of the landmark events in international music and one of the country’s biggest, Lollapalooza took place every year until the COVID-19 crisis forced organizers to cancel its 2020 and 2021 editions. On March 18, 19 and 20, artists of the stature of the Foo Fighters, Miley Cyrus and The Strokes will take to the stage at the Cerrillos Bicentennial Park.

Film festivals:

Various festivals that celebrate the seventh art are already firm fixtures in Chile. The 12th edition of the Women’s Film Festival (FEMCINE) will take place between March 22 and 27, dedicated to highlighting the audiovisual works of women filmmakers from different parts of the world. In August, a new edition of the fabled Santiago International Film Festival (SANFIC) will take place, while in October attention will shift to southern Chile for the 29th edition of the Valdivia International Film Festival.
