Samuel Iglesias, 29 years old, was born in Vilagarcía de Arousa. He is an engineer and has lived in Santiago, Chile, for 4 years working as a hydrogeologist at an environmental consultancy that mainly works for mining companies.

This week he was vaccinated with the Chinese Sinovac formula and his opinion about how the Andean country is handling this process can hardly be better: «Everything is really well organized, unlike Spain, where, according to what I have read, they call you to be vaccinated. Here you only need to go to a center with your ID card and a doctor’s certificate showing you have an illness or a certificate showing your occupation.»

Samuel says the first Pfizer doses were administered to first-line health personnel during December. Mass vaccination kicked off on February 3rd, when the Sinovac dose arrived from China. «From then on, the scheme was divided in groups according to age, starting with people over 90 years old, for both healthy people and those with underlying illnesses, until reaching people 60 years of age approximately two weeks ago,» explains the Galician engineer. During the last 2 weeks, the Chilean system inoculated the population that suffers underlying illnesses, aged between 16 and 59 years. «Since I was diagnosed with a small congenital heart defect last year, it’s my turn to be vaccinated now.», he adds.
