This November 3 and 4, the Annual Meeting of Creative Districts is taking place in Bogota, Colombia, with a delegation led by the Secretariat of Creative Economy of the Ministry of Culture, Arts and Heritage of Chile, with the aim of positioning creativity, art and culture as a driver of territorial development.
The participating Chilean organizations and corporations are Corporación Cultural de Independencia, Corporación Cultural La Pintana, Corporación Educación, Arte y Cultura (CEAC), Barrio Puerto, Fundación Chillán Creativa, Gobierno Regional de Los Ríos, Instituto Profesional Arcos and Frutillar Ciudad Creativa.
The event, organized annually by the non-profit corporation Conexiones Creativas, aims to consolidate networks, strengthen capacities and stimulate the exchange of experiences among professionals who manage, coordinate or work in the context of the so-called cultural and creative districts in the Americas and Europe. This year, 300 people from Italy, Spain, Argentina, Brazil, Colombia and Chile will participate in the event.
"We believe it is very important to participate in this annual meeting because all the efforts we are making as an institution and as a government to promote the exercise of cultural democracy in the territories will benefit tremendously from an event like this, where we can share and learn about the experiences of other countries that have placed culture at the center of their political, economic and social management," said the Undersecretary of Culture and the Arts, Andrea Gutiérrez.
The participation of Chilean cultural agents will make it possible to show, through this international platform, how Chile and the specific territories represented by the cultural agents of the delegations are thinking about development from what are called "creative territories", that is, from places and communities that place creativity, art and culture at the center of local sustainable development, in which people coexist in a creative ecosystem that contributes significantly to social, economic and environmental progress.
The Creative Economy Secretariat of the Ministry of Cultures, Arts and Heritage was invited to participate in the annual meeting of Creative Districts, with a delegation of representatives of Chilean creative territories, so through an open call, organizations, corporations, institutions, public or private, that develop lines of work that promote territorial articulation with emphasis on creativity, heritage, creative and intersectoral economy, were invited to apply.
